Access 97 to 2000 crashes

I have a query that runs against Sybase tables via ODBC
that runs fine in 97 and blows up 2000 or 2002. I have
tried reattaching tables, rewriting query, new Sybase
drivers, all to no avail. The query is pure ansi sql.
