I have a situation that I'm just not sure of and I am appologizing up
front if this post is long.

Client has split DB in a mixed environment. some workstations are
win2K, WinXP with either Office2k, Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office
2010. Program looks as though it was developed in Access 2K and just
running on upgraded versions. Program has a workgroup file.

Issue is that there needs to be additional development and system
freezes on Access 2010 to the point of using task manager to end it.
I'm thinking that there is corruption on the FE however since this is
a secured DB I am leary about upgrading the application due to mixed
environment and moreover Access 2010 does not lend itself to user
level security.

Any suggestions or confirmation would be great.

If the frontend is an MDB format the workgroup security should work
fine with 2010. You just want to keep it in that format so I don't
see a problem updating it. Just make sure you keep a good backup.
Does each user have their own copy of the front end, they should. Try
to decompile it, then run a compact and repair on it. Also check
references on one of the machines with Office 2k on it and make sure
their aren't any missing in the 2010 machines. I'm sure others with
have more suggestions. But post back and keep asking questions.

Does each workstation have an individual copy of the front end, or
is there a shared front end on the file server? If the latter,
that's the wrong way to deploy an Access application, and is always
a mistake.
