This is my first time posting, so I hope I post enough to give an idea of what's going on.

I'm working with an Access 2007 database (developed before I started working) and it has a linked database containing all of the tables. I thought it would be simple for me to add a new field, but I've spent all morning trying to figure it out.

I added a new field in the backend database table, and then when I try to add it to the form in the main database a couple of things happen. If I try to save the form, it acts like it has but then if I try to close the form, it won't. In fact, I can't close the form or the database.

If I do a compact and repair, the database will close, but it removes the added field from the form leaving me back to square one.

Can anybody assist with this?
