After installing Vista, you will have had to install Access again. You may
need to set each copy to Shared Mode under:
Tools | Options | Advanced | Default Open Mode
Note that the actual mode the database is opened in is set by this setting
on the *first* machine to open the database in this session.
The other possiblity is that you don't have adequate permissions on the
folder where the database resides.
You may also want to create an administrative shortcut for opening Access:
