Hi All

I used the User Level Security Wizard to secure my database and all seemed
fine, I created my users and groups and began to test my security.

I started my testing by trying to log on as the Admin user ID (to ensure all
the rights had been removed), but couldnt enter a correct password (I tried
Admin and blank) So I logged back in with my "Super User" and reset the Admin
accounts password

Now when I open my database using this short cut :

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "K:\APAS\MMPS\APAS
MMPS Apps.mdb" /WRKGRP "K:\APAS\MMPS\Secured.mdw"

I get the following message before I get any oppurtunity to enter a user ID:

"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the "K:\APAS\MMPS\APAS
MMPS Apps.mdb" object. Have your system administrator or the person who
created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you."

Is there a way around this problem? or is it restore time?

Also why did the problem occur in the first place...It's not like I deleted
the Admin user (that should be impossible I understand) and the Admin user
has no rights or ownership to any objects (as far as I could tell)

Thanks in advance for any help

Simon

If you have removed the password from the Admin user in the secured
workgroup file, Access will automatically try to log-on as that Admin
user - who does not have any rights! (if you secured the database
correctly)

So, you need to re-assign a password to the Admin user in the secured
workgroup file. The password on the Admin user, is what causes the
logon box to appear.

HTH,
TC

Thanks TC it's nice to know I have correctly removed all rights for admin

but how do I go about re-assigning a password for admin when I cant login to
my database at all?
