Get DB error often "needs to be repaired or isn't a DB
file" on logging in to the server, clicking yes to repair
only gets another error "permissions" error...and so
forth. Totally corrupt. However, I noticed 2 new files
from yesterday after I added a new user with read only
rights to the Db. one was dbname.BAK and the other was
dbname.snp (snapshot viewer)...the .snp turns out to be
a "One-step security wizard" report and list all users,
tables, queries, etc. also, has unsecured Db of dbname.BAK
and secured dbname.mdb (original).....how did this happen?
why? and what did I do wrong? or is this normal and I am
just not figuring it out??? Usually I have to restore from
an old backup, this time I changed the .bak to .mdb and it
worked from the time it was created (it was exact copy). I
am confused. Please help.....Lisa

I'm a bit confused with your question. You 'added a new user'...is/was this
database secured to begin with? It sounds as though it wasn't, given your
bak file was unsecured. When you (or someone) ran the security wizard, it
created a backup of the original unsecured mdb (bak extension), and it
generated the snapshot of the security report.
