Access 2000 and Vista

Two main issues.
1. After opening an .mdb file directly (double clicking) the first time, I
cannot do itthereafter. It requires starting Access first and opening the
file within the program. This is a big problem since I need the shortcut to
work for a number of reasons. I downloaded MS patch KB Article Number(s):
935366, but it did not help. Will Vista SP1 address this? If not, what
patch will?

2. Access 2000 runs very slow. It appears to run at 20% the speed of my XP
machines (which have half the power and RAM). Will this be addressed in SP1.

When can we expect SP1 for Vista?

Did you verify that the .mdb file is associated with Access?

In Explorer > right click the Access database file > click Open With >
select
Microsoft Access from the gallery of listed programs and check the box at
the
bottom of the window, check the box that says 'Always use the selected
program to open this kind of file'.

Click OK.

Make sure the latest Service Packs and patches for Access 2000 is installed.

Of course it is verified. It even shows the Access icon. That is not
the problem. It will only open within the application. I saw other
complaints posted elsewhere.

I understand the frustration. On my system I can double click on an .mdb
file and the Access application opens. If the UAC is active, try disabling
it and try again.
