Our company has recently updated to Microsoft Office Suite 2003. I had
created numerous databases in Access 97 and have converted them all over to
Access 2003 without any errors, except one that was recently discovered. Our
current OS is Windows 2000 professional, however, we are moving towards
Windows XP professional. The problem occurs in forms where I have added a
"combo box" which is used to select names from a table. The "combo box" works
fine on any machine with Windows 2000, however, on machines running XP
professional the "combo box" opens showing the list of names but you are
unable to select any of the names from the list.

Has anyone else run into this problem and is there something I can do to make
the "Combo box" work properly?

Thank You

Unless someone has run across this, this is one of those things that just
shouldn't happen. So, let's try a few troubleshooting items.

1) Make sure that all patches are installed on both machines. These are
patches for the operating system, for Office, and for Jet. With Win2k and
WinXP, going to
http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...ult.aspx?ln=en should
take care of this. This is the updated "Microsoft Update" instead of
"Windows Update". It will give you Office patches as well as Windows
patches.

2) On a WinXP machine, try setting it to the Classic theme. To do this,
right click the desktop and choose Properties. On the Themes tab, choose
"Windows Classic" and click Ok. It will take a few seconds for all of the
changes to be made. See if the problem goes away.

3) Turn off "Name Auto Correct" in Access. To do this, open the database in
Access. Go to Tools|Options|General tab. Under "Name AutoCorrect" uncheck
all 3 check boxes and click Ok. Acknowledge and warnings this may give you,
but continue to do this. Did it solve the problem?
