I have my security/priacy setting at default and when I go to hotmail access
is refused telling me to set my browser to accept cookies. I am able to get
to login to hotmail with firefox and opera, but not IE. This is driving me
nuts.

Please help

IE Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Sites > type in

hotmail.com
passport.net

and Allow Cookies for each, in turn.

Have you got any "security" or "privacy" software running that might be
deleting the cookies, or stopping them being set in the first place?

Dan,
The all I have running is Trend Micro antivirus. And if I had any-
thing running to prevent the cookies from being set would that also
prevent the cookies from being set with Opera and Firefox as well? As
I mentiond in my orginal post I have rest all my setting to default.
I have also applyed "PA Bear's" recomindation to allow cookies for the
two sites but still no luck. Could the be a setting in the
registry???? I am using win.2k sp4.

Do you connect to the internet via a proxy?

Most cookie clearing applications only clear them for IE and ignore any
other browser, as they tend not to intercept them in the HTTP stream.
Anything that might have a cookie clearing facility, or "privacy" option, is
worth checking, even Trend. Do you have any firewall software (eg.
ZoneAlarm), or do you only use the XP Firewall?

Dan,
I have a home network using an SMC 2804WBR router with the firewall
enabled. I've had this setup for over a year w/o any problems. This
problem with IE has just started. The only thing I that I have done
recently was I use system tools to do a disk clean up. And no I do not
use XP firewall.
