How to accelerate display?

Two IBM 8113 (M52 withthe Intel 82945G chipset)
have different monitors:
Upstairs excellent performance with big old Philips
CRT monitor
Downstairs too slow with new Viewsonic VA2033 LED
monitor.

How can I speed up the display i.e. make respose faster
(when hopping to another window)? I am going to buy
more RAM today.
