Acc 97 tool - publish with word I get error can't save the output

Using access 97 - using tools - publish with word, I get error message that
Microsoft Access can't save the output data to the file you've selected. I
have access 97 and Access 2002 loaded on same PC but different drives and
they both work fine. This feature worked on Access 97 up until a couple of
weeks ago. Not sure of what happened during time period when it stopped,
except that a patch was applied. However, the LAN tech removed the patch and
the problem still existed.
