Ability to Group and Ungroup while in Protection Mode

I have a worksheet that I'm trying to protect the formulas (with some cells
that are unprotected for user input). Because it is rather large, I want to
be able to group it so that the user can toggle between a summarized or
detailed view. I'm using the grouping functionality and have preset the
groups.

However, when the sheet is protected, users cannot toggle between the
grouping level; it is frozen at whatever it was when it was protected.

Is there anyway this can be modified so that users can toggle when in the
protected mode?
