Aargh! HTML to text in drag and drop?

OK, in OE6 I would send HTML formatted messages to my inbox via Word mail
merge. Then I would drag and drop those HTML formatted messages to
newsgroup---the HTML formatting was preserved when dragged to the
newsgroups.

Now, in Windows Mail, when I drag and drop an HTML-formatted message to a
newsgroup it is converted to text-------aaarrgghh!

Any suggestions, everything I can see in Options related to format is HTML.

Karen

there are several options in WM concerning HTML postings/
make sure you have turned on/allowed for html.
sending format is one of them, advanced tab of options there is another.

Hi Sean,

OK, but this is not the same question. The other had to do with drag & drop
from newsgroup to newsgroup; this one has to do with lost HTML formatting
when dragging from INBOX to newsgroup. As it turns out they are both
certainly related to a generic problem in my Windows Mail but I don't know
how I would have known.....................................that these issues
were related beforehand.

I have double-double-double checked every setting I can find. Oddly enough
there is nothing on my Advanced tab that has anything to do with HTML.

The only choices on my Advance tab are:

Contact Attachment Conversion
Always convert contacts to attachments to vCard
Ask me each time
Leave contact attachments in Contact format
IMAP
Use the 'Deleted Items' folder with IMAP accounts
Message Threads
Mark message threads I start as 'Watched'
Reply/Forward
Compose reply at the bottom of the original message
Insert signatures at the bottom of a reply
Windows Contacts
Associate the pictures in my Windows user account and my personal
contact
Reduce the file size of contacts by linking to pictures on my computer

Hi Karen,

I'm very sorry for my misunderstanding. I think I just mixed two posts
together.

Thank Mike for his key in. The advanced tab he mentioned is not the one you
are talking about.
Here are the steps:
On Windows Mail main window
1. Tools -> Accounts
2. Double click on the Community account to open the properties
3. Click Advanced tab
4. Choose "Ignore news sending format and post using" and click on HTML

I did some researches on this issue. Here are the results:
All newly created messages/mails by clicking Write Messages/Create Mail
buttons are in Rich Text (HTML) format
All newly created messages/mails by dragging texts are in rich text format
as well.
Any messages created by drag and drop lost their format.

I did these tests on OE6 and Windows Mail. Since all these tests are
running in a test environment, I used the welcome email in Inbox as source.
I also extended tests to OUTLOOK 2003 (which uses Word as mail editor). The
results are the same.

It seems like the problem you had on Vista is by design and I am wondering
if some 3rd-parth software on the OE6 machine helped you save the format of
the texts.

I'll do some further research on this issue and I'll inform you as soon as
I have any conclusion.

Sincerely

Sean Cai

Hi Sean,

I did what was posted below and the problem remains.

This is not 3rd party software on my machine. I am part of group of many
thousand online faculty, the ability to drag html formatted posts from the
Inbox to newsgroups has been available to us for years using OE6 as has the
ability to drag and drop from newsgroup to newsgroup.

I need to be clear, all that I describe was available and reliable on OE6.
I upgrade to Vista Home Premium and features I have come to rely on in OE
(drag & drop from newsgroup to newsgroup and drag html messages and drop to
newsgroups) does not work in Windows Mail.
