A8N-VM-CSM - kingston RAM problem ?

Cannot get this MB to work with Kingston DDR PC3200 RAM (KVR400X64C3AK2/1G)
?

It works in single mode @1666MB/s but not in dual-mode @2200MB/s. RMA'ed the
RAM but got the same problem with the new ones.

Apacer RAM works (as usual) in dual-mode @2200MB/s so it seems that there is
a compability problem between this MB and kingston RAM..

Any advise ?

TIA

We are a dealer of ASUS boards including that new model. We have noticed
the same thing with Kingston modules. The only solution that we know of at
this time is to use
the prior BIOS version. Which one do you have?

FWIW, I have this board working fine in dual mode with Patriot Signature
series PC3200. Seems this board is picky about its RAM.

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the info.

The bios version used is A8N-VM CSM Release BIOS 0506.

Funny enough , no RAM-compability list seems to be available from Asus for
this MB. Maybe they cant find any that works :-)

Try stepping back to BIOS version 0303:

I recall seeing a RAM compatibility list for that board but the link
doesn't appear to be working right now. Those lists only
show modules which they have tested them with and others
may work fine.

It is also somewhat selective about power. The Antec NeoHE 430 I originally
used only booted this board twice. I finally had to use a standard
(non-modular) PSU to get consistent boots.

mode?

Hi,

Its written in the startup screen , or you can use CPUID for checking the
