Asus provides nice web pages with CPU support info on them:

http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/c...=en-us&cache=1

There is no guarantee you won't end up in a "Catch-22" situation.
Simply because there are so many combinations of BIOS version
and processor type.

In the worst case, you can visit badflash.com and pick up
another BIOS chip with the latest version of BIOS from
Asus in it. There are a number of companies that provide the
service and the price should be less than $25.

The BIOS presently on ASUS Web site for your board do support dual core.
Should flashing fail, you should be (or not)b e able to reflash it using the
installation CD. Easy.

Otherwise a new BIOS is really cheap on the Internet.
Or you can get a BIOS Savior - which is a more expensive but
affordable - which will enable you to reflash as many times as
you wish (you will actually have two BIOSes, that you can
select with a switch).
