I just ordered a new A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo to replace my aging, but awesome,
A7N8X Deluxe.
Does the new A8N still use the same Nforce chipset drivers (5.10) found on
the Nvidia site?
Or does this board use something else. Generally I use the latest drives off
the web instead of the often outdated ones found on the included CD.
Thanks

I beleive it uses version 6.31 for the nforce 4 chipset which is
supplied on the CD.

Thanks Naj.
Curious, do you know if you use a SATA drive on the Nvidia SATA controller,
will Windows XP install without any extra drivers needed?

Don't know about nforce 4 chipset but you WILL have to have drivers
either on CD (if you have 2 cd/dvd drives, one will be used by wincd)
and pop it in when install asks for any scsi drives or good old fashion
disket for all others chipsets. Don't see why nforce 4 should be different.

This a very good question. On my A8N-SLI I allowed WinXP to install the
SATA drivers but I see on the NForce4 CD that there are Silicon
SATA/RAID Drivers. The CD allows you to make a floppy to install the
drivers but (haha) my box came wiothout a floppy. I wonder if the SATA
drivers would make a difference?

According to somebody on NforcersHq forum, you can install XP on a Sata
drive as long as you use the Nvidia SATA, and use a single drive, not raid.
It fools XP into thinking it's an IDE and therefore drivers are not needed.

This what was actually said.

"If you are only using one drive and not building a RAID array and have
the drive connected to the Nvidia SATA controller you will not need a
driver disk. The system is somehow able to trick XP into thinking it is
an IDE drive. If you are building a RAID array however, you will need to
make a driver disk first. If you need to make one, there is a
makedisk.exe on the CD that comes with the board."

I think this is slightly clearer.
