A8N-E beta BIOS updates - any info on what changes?

This A8N-E is my first ASUS board and I notice they've started to post
beta BIOS updates. As I'm having problems with a Maxtor DiamondMax 10
SATA drive I'd thought I'd try the beta BIOS. However, although I can
get to the download fine, I can't find any info at all about the changes
in the BIOS. Anyone point me to the correct place to find info on what's
actually changed with each beta BIOS?

Thanks.

Would you be having the same problem as this poster ?

Asus does not provide information about beta BIOS. Why is
a mystery, as they eventually provide it for release
BIOS. If a BIOS is good enough to release as a beta, it
should be good enough to come with release notes...

There have been several postings from people with issues with the Maxtor
drives you refer to. I suggest you do a google / search this news group and
check the issues you have against what you find. I have read that Maxtor has
released a firmware update for the drive.

See: http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/bb/sutra432837.html

Asus usually does not include much if any detail on the fixes in the bios
files. Whatever you do, do not use the Windows utility - especially if the
system is unstable. Check the instructions at the Asus web site and your
manual before proceeding.

Not that it helps you, but I also have lots of trouble with my Maxtor
DiamondMax 10 SATA drives (RAID 1). Hope Asus fixes it soon.
