I posted this to ASUS Support - can ANYONE help with this? I'm ready to
pitch the system.

[Problem Description]
Can not get Video from a new DV Camcorder to appear on the computer.

Installed a Syba firewire card, and replaced with a Dynex firewire card.
Also tried 2 Firewire cables. Formatted and reinstalled XP SP2 also.
Flashed to the latest BIOS and all drivers are current.

Computer detects camcorder (JVC GR-D74U) and can control camcorder
functions (FF, RWD...), but get no video display and can not capture
video. The camcoder works on another computer with an A7V266 MB so it
isn't the camera.

It appears to be a MB issue to me.

I have searched all fourms and internet and am getting no where.
Reinstalling was a last effort. I am ready to toss the MB in favour of a
1394 integrated option.

Any help, recommendation, or BIOS tweaks would be welcomed prior to this
drmatic step.

Do you have Nero installed? If yes, go to its program folder and rename 2
files ending with 'enc'. I cant remember what theyre called but you'll find
them. This was the source of my DV troubles way back. Driver confusion,
simple as that. Let us know if that nailed it.

I do have Nero and I will attempt what you have said anyway, but ...
unfortunetly this is not my problem ;-( It wouldn't work after a format
and reinstall of XP SP2 with absolutely nothing else on the machine - I
just attempted using Movie Maker.

Now that I have Nero on though I will take your advice so that it's one
less thing to have to contend with.

Thankyou

Trevor

Any other thoughts?
