i have the deluxe board and two sticks of ram one 512 and one 256 which
slots should they be in ? i keep getting restarts and trying to resolve the
matter

one more question is it necessary to format after upgrading processor?

If your getting restarts after upgrading the CPU, I would seriously look at
the heatsink and fan to ensure it is seated proplerly. Also make sure you
havnt dislodged any other components whilst in there.
With regard the format, if all you have changed is the cPU, you shouldnt
need to re install windoze.

And I always wonder why people reformat -
even after changing motherboard.

I would first check that the momory is approved bY ASUS for that board.

all problems solved ....incompatible memory . weird in memtest on the a7n8x
the ram had errors moved the stick to ecs board no errors at all . yet the
ram on the web page said tested and wolrs with a7n8x board
