I know this question has probably been answered but I missed it.
Can this board be set to use the SATA controller without RAID.

i am using an 80 gb SATA as my main drive along with my old (first drive)
with my A7N8X Deluxe and i do not use RAID. Not that i dont want to i just
dont understand it yet Curtis

Sure it can. If you plan to install an OS to the SATA drive you will need to
create a floppy with the Silicon Image drivers. Boot from the Windows CD. In
the first few seconds of installation, press F6. Setup will prompt you for
the files on the floppy. Now Windows XP can "see" the SATA hard drive. When
installation is complete, set the first boot device to SCSI in the BIOS.
