A7N8X Deluxe Memory Upgrade and Graphics Aperture Size

On our A7N8X Deluxe we have 1gb memory, two 512mb sticks, set in dual
mode. In the BIOS we have set the Graphics Aperture Size to 512mb as
we use Trainz Railroad Simulator which is a very graphics hungry
program and it runs pretty well with this setting.

We've been advised that upgrading the memory to 2Gb, two 1gb sticks
running in dual mode, would further improve the simulation, and wonder
if we will then see a 1Gb option appear on the Graphics Aperture Size
list in the BIOS?

Thank you for any advice.

I read here somewhere I think that there is no need to go over 68-128K
for graphics aperture with modern graphics cards? Have a look around.
What Gfx card are you using? <Lo

Hello Lo

The graphics card is a Leadtek GeForce 4 Winfast A280TD MyVIVO APGx8
with 126mb DDR memory.

I read that it's supposed to be the amount of Ram that the video card is
allowed to use instead of it's own ram. The higher than number, the larger
size of the cache that's set aside for your video card in your ram, which in
turn, slows down the rest of your system, but increases the performance of
your card. As Gfx card memory increases, there is no need to allocate
system memory to the Gfx card. I boosted mine from default to 128K, and
noticed
no difference, will probably go back to default. YMMV <Lo
