I use a PC built on A7N266-VM/Athon Xp 1700+/256 DDR. I have been
using it for last 2 years.. One fine day, the screen suddenly went
blank and the pc shut itself down. It failed to restart. I tried to
start the machine by disconnecting all the peripherals and no use.. I
even tried removing the Ram and booting up the machine.. The power led
lits up and the CPU fan starts. That is all. No display/no beeps. Only
the keyboard gets powered in the beginning. Tried to reset Bios - no
use..

IF anybody has any clue of what is happening here - any
experiences/tech inputs will be great..

Thanks in Advance
V

If you have a spare power supply, test with that.
Athlon boards use a lot of +5V power, and maybe the
+5V is not working well on your PSU. That is the most
likely cause.

If that doesn't fix it, remove the heatsink/fan from the
CPU and inspect the silicon die. If there is a burn
mark on the bottom of the heatsink, it could be that
the CPU fried. When reassembling the heatsink, use
some fresh thermal compound between the die and the
heatsink, to promote cooling.

Also check the onboard battery. Some systems refuse to start up when the
battery is dead.
