I have a cheap USB mouse that I bought on a trip a while ago when I
forgot to bring one along. I has been working just fine until the last
XP update. That brought along a hardware update for the mouse. I
thought that was rather slick so I told XP to install the update -bad
decision. It resulted in an instant BSOD. Reboot the machine BSOD.
Unplug the mouse and boot went fine. Plug in the mouse, instant BSOD.
XP did come up with some error page that pointed to the dll associated
with the mouse driver and deleting that would allow the mouse to work,
but only if I plug it in a different USB port. Also the laptop has had
a BSOD since that could very well be related to the same thing, not sure
though. The error page did point to some A4TECH Web site for the "fix"
to the problem but I didn't see any XP BSOD "fix" listed there.
So, my question is, now can I find and remove every trace of this XP so
update so that I can use the mouse in a convenient USB port without
risking a BSOD ? I don't see any reference to A4TECH in the registry
nor any XP update in add remove programs that mentions A4TECH.
