Download the newest driver (probably a Windows XP driver) for the scanner
from the scanner manufacturer's website. If that doesn't work, you're
probably out of luck and will have to buy a new scanner.
That's one reason why I just bought a new PC with Windows XP Pro, before
they stop making them. XP is stable, and I have no need for Vista's bells
and whistles. No improvements of substance AFAIK.
You can, of course, purchase another copy of Windows XP and replace Vista
with XP as well.
