hi,

I bought me an A4 flatbed scanner many years back and have used it to
full satisfaction in Windows 98, but now I have a new PC with Vista, and
updated my old to XP, and both don't seem to work with the provided
software for this scanner.

Could anyone tell me how / where to solve this?

Download the newest driver (probably a Windows XP driver) for the scanner
from the scanner manufacturer's website. If that doesn't work, you're
probably out of luck and will have to buy a new scanner.

That's one reason why I just bought a new PC with Windows XP Pro, before
they stop making them. XP is stable, and I have no need for Vista's bells
and whistles. No improvements of substance AFAIK.

You can, of course, purchase another copy of Windows XP and replace Vista
with XP as well.

Did you set the BIOS to the EPP port setting?? its not the default.

Try this

Copy the installation files to your hard drive
Go to the installaton file
right click
Properties
Compatibility

tick - Run this program in Compatibility Mode
and choose the OS you want

Does that work?
