FP will maintain _vti folders for all content within a web. This is controlled by the server
extensions on the server when you publish via FP.
To avoid these in folders where the content is NOT maintained by FP, convert the folder to subwebs,
then use a FTP application to upload/maintain the content within the subwebs, do no open the subweb
in FP or run a check on the extensions, that includes the subwebs.
The files in the _vti folder really do not take up that much space at 1 -2 kb each.
