How hot should a 9800XT run at?

In the overdrive panel (overdrive is NOT on) it is 71 to 72 in 2D. When I
play any DirectX9 game it goes up to 77 or 78.

I am getting intermittent crashes in all games. Everything is fine for 10
mins then crashes.
After a reboot temp is about 77, but bear in mind that it has probably
cooled a degree or two while rebooting.

Is this normal or a duff card?

I am using 4.3 drivers (4.4 cause problems in 2D) and have reinstalled
Directx 9.0b just in case. My system is not overclocked in any way.

What else can I try, or is my card just runnung too hot

My 9800XT runs at the same temps as you are getting (71-72 idle, 77-78 after
finishing a game). Yet I get no problems with games crashing.

I'm using cat 4.4 drivers, in a shuttle SB75G2, with a 3Gig P4, 1Gig of OCZ
ram and an audigy 2ZS soundcard.

My temp readings are also pretty close to that. No crashes. But the
damn fan is sure noisy. Are there any versions of this card that are
quieter than others?
