I got the ATI adaptor to output from DVI to component and connected it to my
16:9 HDTV. The picture looks good (I can read the text) , but I cant shrink
the picture to fit the screen. When viewing the desktop, the taskbar at the
bottom and some of the shortcut icons at the top and sides are off the
picture. My TV supports all the resolutions of the adaptor (except the 520p)
and I set the dip switches for them all (except 520p).
I tried different settings of the Displays menu and the display
clone/primary switches. I also tried different desktop resolutions. My TV
does not seem to have any adjustments either.
Any ideas?

Lutrell

Try Powerstrip. Set up a custom resolution matched to your tv.

Shouldn't be necessary--if it's a standard HDTV then the adapter should
set the right resolutions

In "Displays", it should be possible to pick the correct display and
find an adjustments tab in the resulting menu that allows width, height,
and horizontal and vertical positions to be adjusted.

I owned a hitachi 46F500 whcih is 16:9 and I have a computer with a
9700 pro connected to it. The resolution I'm using is 1152 * 648 and
everything fits on the screen .

I hoped this helped.

Thanks,
I have a the Sony Kp-51HW40 16:9 HDTV. Maybe there are some screen
adjustments I have not found yet. I will play with it some more.
I heard of "Powerstrip" but was not sure what it was for. Will look into it.
Thanks,
Lutrell
