Ok, I have 2 PC's running 98 original and a laptop with XP and a LinkSys 4 port
10/100 Hub. One of the desktops (Win98,NIC card, Modem card) handles the Net
connection(but I'd like to be able to set the other as a 'back-up' later). So
far, I have been able to get the three pcs' too see each other ( I can read
files) but I cannot browse the net on the other two pcs' that don't handle the
Dial Up connection. What now? :-}

TIA

If you're doing dialup internet access, from a Win98 computer, you'll
need a proxy server to share the connection. If all you need to do on
the internet is web browsing, just about any proxy server will do - I
have used Analogx Proxy (free) from
<http://www.analogx.com/welcome.htm>, which worked well for me.

The problem with proxy servers is that they are application specific -
you have to setup each browser, and other internet program, specially
to use one. Not all programs will work with one either.

Here's a couple websites that discuss what you need to do in detail.
