I purchased a laptop last year and have been bringing it
to school where I am the librarian and accesssing the
school network with my username and password. Recently,
the school created a policy that says that no non school
systems may be used to access the network. They maintain
that XP has additional capabilities that compromise the
security of our 98 system. When I log on, I don't have
additional access beyond what my password allows. Are
they correct? I maintain my firewall and virus
protection. Because I provide internet resources and
technology curriculum integration for my staff, using my
own system saves me from constantly transferring
resources via email. I meet with the tech coordinator and
superintendent tomorrow and need some ammunition.
