Mother board is a TYAN S1598 running an AMD K2-550 with a
AGP ATI graffix card. PC would just lock hard running 98
untill I loaded a ViaChip Set upgrade (4 in 1). Loaded Win
2000, reloaded 4 in 1 ViaChip fix but PC occationaly locks
solid. Looks like old problem is back. Any thoughts on
this?

those k2 chips run hot, make sure your heatsink/fan is correctly attached
and working right. Being your problem is "occasional", make me suspect heat
may be an issue. Anyway try to rule that out.
