Already have a 2 monitor setup on a Gigabyte Maya 9700 Pro (with the
latest Catalyst drivers) but also want to connect the TV to it for
watching a few old videos I copied to avi's. Control panel is
installed (not Control Centre). I tried to install the Control Centre
but it wouldn't run... No errors or anything, just click and nothing.
I heard I'm not missing much but hey, I'd still like to see for
myself.
Anyway, back to Catalyst and TVs...
Now the connecting bit was easy. Managed to get a nice TV picture with
several clicks of the mouse and a few tweaks here and there but...
a)
It's only a 4:3 (1024x768) picture. I've got 16:9 widescreen but I
can't see any way of getting that aspect ratio with any of the
available resolutions.
Is there a way to configure the card to display in a nice widescreen
format?
I tried using PowerStrip, but I must be doing something wrong as
trying to create a custom resolution just results in some weird
scrollable window configuration. Any ideas on the right settings for a
16:9 PAL TV?
b)
Is there a 1-click (or something near that) way to swap between a
1152x864 monitor on secondary output and the TV (whatever resolution
it should be after 'a)' is sorted out). Currently, swapping between
the two secondary displays wrecks my beautiful icon layout each time
and takes a lot of fiddling to configure each time.
c) On my old Matrox G400 card I used to be able to configure the
second display to be used solely for DVD/video output (ie, anything
Windows media player window would automatically be fullscreen on the
secondary display).
Is there a way of doing this with a Radeon 9700 pro/Catalyst? It would
save mucking about with mice pointers that are too small and blurry to
see (my PC is on the other side of the room from my TV)
