Anyone here been able to get 3D to work in Suse 8.2 with an ATI 9700 pro? I
have down loaded the driver from ATI and the fglrx driver update from Suse,
but I am doing something wrong as I end up in text mode after trying to
install them. Can someone here help? And please don't tell me to post in the
Suse newsgroup because I have with no response.

Thanks

Very few ATI cards are supported in Linux. Go to the suse support page
and it will have a complete list of supported hardware.
