I have an 8500DV AIW card, I installed it and also installed the drivers for my application (w2k) off the ati website, but when I run the multimedia center configuration system tests it says
----------------------------
WDM (capture) drivers
Checks the WDM (capture) drivers.

Test result:

WDM devices INF file not installed.

WDM devices are not listed in registry.

WDM devices are not loaded or enumerated by the device manager.

WDM devices are not registered with DirectShow

Explanation: There is a problem with the WDM drivers. TV and video capture must have these components.

Recommendation: Get the capture drivers and the recommended ATI display driver from the ATI website:

--------------------

I go back to the ati site and redownload the file named wxp-w2k-catylst-7-95-031028m-011774c.exe and reinstall it and reboot again and yet i still cant open the tv player and if I re run the system test again it still says there is a problem with the WDM (capture) drivers.

I know this is a very basic starting point, but please direct me as to what else to put in this post that might help describe what I am doing wrong or missing.

Just let me know what other info you need about my system and or setup and I will provide it, i want to use this card yet cant seem to get it working.

Bill

I went into my device manager and looked at the drivers that is says are installed, they say

6.14.10.6396

9/30/2003

ATI Technologies Inc.

This device is working properly.

Also installed directx9 and windows media encoder 9 and also tried to install 8.7 multimediacenter, still same issues when i run the setup tests says WDM files not installed properly (altho the drivers in device manager show no conflicts), also when i try to start the TV in the ati menu the spash screen pops up showing version 8.7 yet then goes away and nothing else happens...

I gotta be close here......

Did you install the WDM drivers? In Win2k, this is a separate MICROSOFT
(not ATI) software package (in the latest XP drivers, it has been
"integrated"). Note, it's not the device drivers, it's not MMC, it's
not DirectX (all of which you do also need), this is a SEPARATE set of
drivers. Although it's a Microsoft item, it IS available on the ATI web
site, right alongside the drivers for the board itself. And, again, in
some of the later driver sets this has been "integrated", but I don't
believe that to be the case with the Win2K drivers.

Ok first thing I did was uninstall all the ati stuff on my pc and rebooted,
cancelled when it tried to auto search and load info for the card, installed
directx9 and mediaencoder9 (both required for newest version of mutlimedia
center), rebooting and going back to the ati webpage I am about to attempt
to install the software and drivers off the ati site once again fresh with
no previous software drivers and making sure the directx and encoder are
predone,,,(will post right after I reboot here) with what happens at that
point.

Ok this time it appears the capture drivers are checking as OK in the scan,
weird but cool by me!

Ignore it. The ATi configuration app is notorious for little quirks like
this - the latest is that MMX is not available on your CPU - and this is for
high end P4s and AMDs! It does have its uses for checking your system as
long as you bear in mind these little quirks and administer a large pinch of
salt (watch the blood pressure!). We're all waiting to see what the _next_
one will be - "You cannot run MMC on a pocket calculator," maybe... ;-)
