Im running under WIN XP, I just bought a 802.11b Wireless Network
Access Point F5D6130 because I needed to enable one of my PCs in
order to run internet.

I thought I could connect the belkin wireless network access point to
the PC and this way I would be able to recieve data from my DNS router
(Home Portal 1700HGm, which is supposed to transmit wireless)

The wireless network access point manual doesn't mention nothing like
that, in all examples the device is being conected directly to the
router and not to the PC, in the manual they have in mind that my pc
is wireless enabled and that's what I wanted to do when I first buy
this product....the guy at radio shack was the one who recommended me
this product and I asked him 3 times if this was going to work, the
box didnt say it was for enabling PCs for wireless access but he said
it would...

so...should I return this product to radio shack or it is possible to
work like I'd like to? if I have to return this product which one
should I buy then?
I'd like something external, not PCI....USB preferable...

An Access Point would work if configured in "wireless client" mode BUT I
assume you have no network interface card in the computer to plug the
wireless access point (wireless client) via cat5e in to. The F5D6130 may not
actually support client mode as Belkin sell a Wireless Ethernet Adapter
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=154416
which appears to perform this function.

If so, you will need to take the Access Point back and buy
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=179211
or

It will work when plugged into the PC if you have a second network card but
will be a pain setting it up. Your best bet would be to get a hub or switch
to plug the router, PC and wireless network point into
