I have two PCs with 802.11b cards. Can I use these with a wireless router
modem which is 802.11g? I'm thinking about the Netgear DG834G.
Are there any other wireless router/modems that I should consider?

If I go for a wired system has anyone any advice as to which wired router
modem I should consider. Cost is a consideration here but I am aware of the
need for in service support.

Well, there was a thread recently that discussed 11.b/11.g
compatibility. Bottom line is that almost all 11.g devices are
compatible with older 11.b devices. Just be sure the specs don't have
some disclaimer about compatibility.

And I personally like a separate router and modem. And it appears that
the DG834G costs about as much as a separate router and modem.
