After installing this patch set I'm no longer able to use my BT keyboard to
log on to my PGP encrypted disk. PGP puts up a logon screen *before* Windows
starts. This worked fine prior to this patch set. Now I have to open the
laptop case, login to PGP, close the laptop case (to utilize the external
monitor) and then everything's OK.

This of course is quite a pain when using the laptop with external monitor
and BT mouse and keyboard.

Is there a workaround?

TIA,
Bill

What patch? Full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3)?

I'm running XP Pro, SP2. My MS Update settings download patches, but do not
install until I select to do so. I did that this morning -- so I installed
all of the patches that were released 8/12 -- but this apparently did not
include SP3 as my system is still at SP2. I hope that answers the question.

If it'd help I can go to Add/Remove Programs and get a list of patches
installed. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Bill

[You will need to know what updates were installed to obtain free support.
They will be listed in Add/Remove Programs (if Show Updates box is checked)
and at Windows Update website | Update History.]

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB123456).

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Robear
Thanks for the followup. I posted a message on the Microsoft support site
as you suggested and have now been referred back to Dell to fix the problems
caused by the MS patches which caused my MS Bluetooth keyboard to fail. Groan
.....

Regards,
Bill
