It's for the 2004 version. Apparently the 2005 version isn't out yet.

Thanks, Mel. With my connection download only took about a minute at
most. That includes the Factbook On Intelligence.

Just noticed this on the title page of the World Factbook:

"What's New
- Country information has been updated as of 10 February, 2005."

So it's fairly recent information.

Just noticed that you don't have to do these huge downloads in the first
place, since all they are is websites. You can view the information
online at this link:

The http://www.pricelesswarehome.org site link points to the 2002
version (http://www.odci.gov/cia/download2002.htm), so maybe it would be
more appropriate if the http://www.pricelesswarehome.org site link
pointed to the current version (http://www.odci.gov/cia/download.html).

When the 2005/6 version is released the current page
(http://www.odci.gov/cia/download.html) at the CIA will be update and
the http://www.pricelesswarehome.org site link will point to the new
version (2005/6 version). If anyone wants previous versions of the
documents than can be found at the bottom of the same page
(http://www.odci.gov/cia/download.html).

Some times it's more convenient to download and view locally than to
view it online.

factbook2004.zip (30,859 kilobytes)

Weird, in only two years the CIA has lost almost 2/3 of their
"facts". <grin>

Actually, anyone can download past years as well from your second
URL.

The 2002 gives an estimate of about an 133 meg total download (220
installed), There are geographic data files to consider. I could
not find a similar "total" as to the 2004 version.

Will look at one, and if I like, all.

Thanks
Will download them both.

True, offline viewing can indeed be convenient when your connection is down.
