I searched for .ax files, this is what I have, which should I rename, what
should I do? I've already visited papajohn.org. 1. clvsd.ax in Program
Files/Cyberlink
1. clvsd.ax in
PF/Dell Media
1. ksproxy in
PF/I386
6. ksproxy in
PF/Windows
1. claud.ax in
PF/Cypberlink
1. CLAud.ax in
PF/Dell Media
1. CLAudioCD.ax
in PF/Cyberlink
1. claudfx.ax
in PF/Cyberlink
1. claudfx.ax
in PF/Dell Media
1. L3codecx.ax
in PF/I386
1. L3codecx.ax
in PF/Windows
& 4. wtwmplug.ax
all in PF/Windows!

One at a time I tried renaming a few, but none worked. Papajohn said 7 was
the record, I don't know if this counts as 7 or 20. Any suggestions would be
appreciated, I'm sooo tired of accomplishing 1 edit then having movie maker
freeze. Thanks, Jewelz

it counts as 7.... tied.... there are often multiple places where they can be

try renaming all of them... not one at a time. You shouldn't need to do the
copies in the i386 folders

I took your advice, and things are working 70% better, I now can edit for 20
min. before it freezes. Thanks So Much!

it should be better than that...

one source of Movie Maker seemingly freezing for a while is it's auto saving
feature. If you haven't changed it, it'll every 10 minutes stop things to
backup the current changes in your collections and working project.

you can change the interval or turn it off completely in the Tools > Options
> General tab.... as this feature isn't meant to provide full backups of

these important files, I run with the setting off and take full
responsibility for backing things up.

Excellent tip papajohn! I had noticed that feature but left it because of
fear of freezing, not thinking it was a contributing factor. Taking
responsibility for back up is the best bet because after restoring a project
there were always missing edits anyways. I did encounter saving problems
that I resolved from consulting your web site and past discussions. Thanks
for your prompt, courteous, and reliable information! Jewelz
