ATT is offering me a 6G (or 3G) connection.
I currently have 1.5.
Would it make any sense to get a 6G connection?
I'm asking from the point of connection and how fast the website servers
are.
Do they even upload at 6G? If not there's not point.

Thanks for your help.

J

This is really not a Windows XP question as it has nothing to do with the
operating system. A better venue for your question are the excellent forums
on www.dslreports.com - covers way more than DSL.

If you enjoy giving money to ATT go right ahead. I have their slowest DSL
and very happy with it.
Ask yourself if you are happy with your current service. Do you need a
faster download?

DSL service is usually "governed" by the "wire distance" from yoru
"entry" to the DSL central office "dslam" unit. The farther your are
from this CO, the slower the connection will be. Unless the price and
terms are "great" and you need the increased speed (like a remote
office,) this might not be worth it.

That is not true with ATT. They have three speeds and you pay according to
speed.
If too far from an office, then high speed would simply be not available.

Not sure about AT& but I was sold a 5G DSL service which was never
supposed the be sold,f for my location. Turned out that my DSL
service was never available (>1.3Mb speeds) because I'm just past the
"wire distance" limit.
