128K is plenty for the folks who buy budget systems. ;p

IOW, is the die size bigger now that they have 64-bit or was it always
there and just disabled?

don't know about in 64bit mode but mode but the lack of cache didn't hart
their performance that much in early models, about 7% off similarly
clocked half meg counterparts, the fact it is built on a 90nm process will
mean the thing will be an absolute joy for users looking for cool/quiet
machines. a 130nm 3000+ can be cooled passivly with ease under normal
load, god knows how well this thing will overclock

I agree. While I'd much rather have a dual-core chip with 1MB of
cache per chip, the price of such a CPU is well beyond my budget!
This Sempron is much more in-line with what a lot of us are willing to
spend on our computers.
