Back in Nov; 2005 i found this newsgroup after installing MicroSoft
AntiSpyware.
With MSAS finding an ibis toolbar on my week old computer and not being
able to clean it, i asked my first question here and Engel was one of the
first
to answer back. 6000 posts later he is still answering posts, for a man who
said this is only a hobby has offered an awful alot of help.

Thanks again for your help in the past and the cummulative help from
everyone else.. Ron

I'll second that motion/emotion!

Engel has helped innumerable people through these forums.

Thanks, Engel.

(And thanks, as well, to everyone else who has devoted volunteer time to
answering questions from strangers about Defender and the price of eggs in
China and whatever else has come to these forums--we've helped a lot of
folk.)

Not sure of the price per egg, but the book telling you how much it costs
is $ 1230.01 in hardback... Ahhh, inflation.

Update: the hidden cost of Chinese eggs:

During a recent raid on a wholesale centre in Guangzhou city, the capital
of China’s Guangdong province, a large quantity of fake eggs was seized.
Their wholesale price is 0.15 yuan (S$0.03) each - half the price of a real
egg.

But experts warn of the danger of eating fake eggs. Not only do they not
contain any nutrients, a Hong Kong Chinese University professor warned that
long-term consumption of alum could cause dementia.

Yes Engel has been a BIG help to me as well. I have found that in many
efforts the work of a few benefit many. In addition to Engel please add Bill,
Ron, Randy and others as well.

Aaargh! Why did I ask? yuck, indeed...

So--in relation to this forum, though: This brings us to the question of
"reputation." In a forum open to anyone in the world, how do you decide
whether the advice you are being given is good or not?

1) Since this is a public forum, advice is open to critique by others--which
is good.
2) Check back and see how long someone has been around and whether others
have responded that their advice has helped.
3) The HTML versions of these forums attach some symbols intended to provide
some guidance--to folks whose answers are marked as correct by others.

So--watch out for the fake eggs, and those critters that lurk under
bridges...
