When I connect my ipod to my dell 4500s for syncing, it prevents the use of
my WD My book essential from working (also connected via usb). I've noticed
using the disk management utility that they are using the same disk number
(disk 1). My thumb drive pops up as disk 2, and will work.

Can I keep them from fighting for the same disk number, my book always
looses that fight?
