Ok - is your 5.25 a 1.2MB Drive or a 360KB Drive?
You say XP did detect it somewhat - so maybe the A/B Swap in Bios is
enabled, or the Cable you are using is
Wired to only suit 1 Letter? Try another Cable maybe. Usually the Floppy "A"
is on the end, and the 5.25 Inch "B" takes the next spot inward from
there.....usually taking the Flat Edgecard type connection, not the header
type.
Also, if you place a 1.2MB Disk in a 360K Drive, it will ask to format it ,
and vise versa.
