Has any 4x5 user downloaded the SE update to see if this actually works?
Just curious. In reality, 4800 dpi would be a huge file and it would take a
loooong time to process the image, so maybe 2800 or 3200 is more realistic.
My old computer would probably die if I tried to scan a file that huge,
therefore I haven't even tried and just wondered if others had. There was a
post here that said this was not possible due to a hardware buffer
limitation.

From the Silverfast update history page:
Changes in Version 6.2.1r5: (06/18/2004)...
Epson 4870: Scanning 4x5 film at 4800 dpi, 48 Bit now possible, also with
ICE.
