Is there any possibility to disable
48 bit LBA Support in Windows XP Professional.
It is easy in Windows 2000 Professional.

On Windows XP the 48 Bit LBA support is built in to the Atapi.sys
driver, you would have to replace the driver with a pre-SP1 version.
If I may ask, why on earth do you want to do this?

Possibly to "limit" the size of a large hard drive?? Several IDE
hard drives have / had a jumper to limit the total capacity, which is
the better way of setting a limit.

want to know why too
the 48bit lba is backwards compatible with all prior drivers,
have a bunch of drives under data recovery, even some mfm 20MB drives from
1982
its a harsh way to reduce disk capacity
