I'm running Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2003 and I can receive email just fine,
but all of a sudden tonight I'm getting a " 452 Insufficient system storage"
error when I try to send a message. A call to Telus tech support (high speed
internet) and they tell me that my Outlook has too many messages. I
converted Outlook to the 20G file system some time ago and it is currently
just under 2.4GB; what the tekky said doesn't make sense. How could the
amount of messages have anything to do with sending email when the size of my
..pst file is no where near the allowable limit?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Same thing happened to me today too. My email files are large, but nowhere
near where they have been in the past, yet today, I started getting the
"System" email message with the "452 Insufficient system storage". I created
a new Outlook file and closed all other and am still getting it. Don't
undertsand it and can't find and results in the knowledgebase search.
H E L P me somebody....P L E A S E....I'm going on a 2 week business later
this evening and seriously don't need this issue.

When you get an email message with this warning, it means it is coming from
your ISP and not from Outlook. Login to your web based mailbox of your ISP
and check your storage limits there.

Thanks for your suggestion, but i don't think that's correct. I used a
different PC a sent email just fine through the same ISP from all the same
email accounts.
The error message is coming from within Outlook.
having received this same message with a new PST file, and after ensuring my
space at the ISP was clean, and testing via another PC, I concluded it has to
be local to my laptop's environment.

I proceeded to compress all of Outlook's PST files that I have via the
Outlook menu "File/Data File Management". I selceted each file one at a time,
then chose "settings" which then opens a dialogue box where the "Compress"
function is.

This seemed to cure the problem, at least for now. I tested by resending all
the previous test messages, and they all went lickety split and arrived with
no issues!!

UH OH...spoke too soon. two messages got through asap but the third test
bombed and created the instantaneous error email from "System Administrator"
again.
Quite bizarre since the same email from my backup PC went rhough just fine !!

Bottom line....it's still a mystery, but looks more and more like it's
Outlook on the laptop that's generating the message

i am hAVING the same problem today on TELUS.

when i phoned the unknowledgable person told me it was my computer. it is obviously a telus problem but they won't admit it.

it will probably be fixed by tomorrow when someone wakes up.

I tried compacting as you suggested Timoco, and the first message went, but
subsequent messages did not. I also deleted about 1000 emails from various
folders ie Sent, Deleted etc again, two messages went then the error message
returned. But, if I use Telus' webmail on the internet I can send.

Finally got someone at telus who knew something.

My problem was that I had a specific servedr at Telus specified (eg. 199.5nn. etc)

so i changed it to a general one

smtp.telus.net

this means they can change their servers without us having to change ours all the time.
