Hello,

Some questions,

I had problems setting up XP due to a bad RAM stick so on 2nd attempt
chose another directory which I named WinXP. Now when I boot, I get the
two choices of XP to load on the B&W screen. How can I take the choice
away and have it boot right to the login screen?

The Shortcuts text area is highlighted a dark blue. How can I get rid of
this?

After install I get this Hardware found. It comes into 'Others' in Dev
Mgr and I can't find a driver for it. I have the TUSL-M mobo CD and it
is not there either. Any ideas ? LAN, Audio, Display etc., and all
seems to work okay.

Thanks,

Rock

Remove this from your c:\boot.ini file:

timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional"
/fastdetect

That's the default entry. There should be another that may look like this:

timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WinXP <----- notice the path
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional"
/fastdetect

And change the timeout value to just a couple seconds.

Make DAMN SURE you make a backup copy of your original boot.ini file in case you
mess up the edit and end up with a non-bootable XP.

Oh and edit it in wordpad or edit it in Settings --> Control Panel --> System
--> Advanced --> Startup and Recovery settings.
