I have attempted to activate the 3GB mode in WinXP by
following the directions here:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/...server/pae/PAE
mem.mspx.

However, when I reboot my machine, it Blue Screens. Has
abyone done this succesfully? Am I missing something?

I have a Dell Dimension 4600C; P4 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, WinXP
Pro SP1.

Thanks.

Out of interest, what application are you using that requires this switch?

I work for a SolidWorks CAD resller; while SW does not
require this switch, it recommends activating it when
working with larger files.

Yup, a CAD file is a good candidate for that switch. Sorry I can't be of
more assistance. Does SolidWorks tech support offer any joy?

OK. I just found out that this only works if you have 3-
4GB RAM to begin with, which means that I'm SOL unless the
powers that be want to spring for more RAM.

Thanks Rocket J. for your replies.
