Is there a workaround to get 3DNA to work with MSAS? The only way to get it
to work is to shut down MSAS, but after 3DNA is launched, you can restart
MSAS with no problems?

3DNA website:
http://www.3dna.net

3DNA forum mentioning issue:
http://3dna.net/forums/main.htm
(search "All Forums" for "microsoft antispyware")

I really, really like MSAS and recommend it to everyone, and 3DNA is loved
by all my clients with children, any solutions?

I tried disabling real-time, but no effect.

Thanks

if given the choice, I will choose 3dna and forget about MSAS, until MS release
a stable version

Setup welcome screen of 3DNA Desktop v1.10 (free version).
Did you see the phrase ".. This will allow the installer to update certain
system files without rebooting your computer."

and what has that got to do with MSAS?

WinXP has built in protection, (just in case you are not aware)
if any installer tries to change MS's system files, they will be replaced by MS
upon next reboot.

meanwhile I am downloading the whole site of 3DNA (that includes all the addons)

The point is: ".....update certain system files without rebooting your
computer."
That's not common for a "normal" program and AFAIK that's why MSAS reacts.

I saw that MyBar checkbox, and I unchecked the box...

In reply to D@annyBoy - If I were given a choice, I'd go with MSAS since it
is so far the best, least annoying AS software - next to Giant that is
It's great for stupid people which most clients are, I'm sure most of you
know what I mean...

But I get the point...

I can't see any rational description of the issue in those forums.

You've posted enough for someone to try to replicate this, though.

Can you give a clear description--what happens when you have Microsoft
Antispyware running and try to start the app?

What should happen?

MSAS has to undergo more intensive testing before it goes RTM
and I suspect that, that is the reason why MS hold back Beta 2.
In general, internal builds are more higher than the public release since
the developers will try and reproduce all bugs posted in the newsgroups
and eliminate them.
This is the main reason for the existence of this news server,
for public testers to post problems and bugs.
But many failed to do so, thinking that MSAS is a multi-purpose application
that can replace all existing applications for spyware, cookies, blah blah blah
and post problems which are unrelated at all to MSAS

want to post something which is rather off topic here

when installing new applications, after using anti virus to scan the files, shut
down AV's real time protection
in fact close all open applications before installing new software

many applications include VB runtimes, and when you install the application, it
will check against present version in a system, overwriting it if necessary with
a new version.

as mentioned, it is safe in WinXP, if applications want to update certain system
files, because of the built in protection against tampering of the system files.
Win XP keeps cache of the files, protected, and will replace any files changes
by applications with it's own copy.

I'll be more specific, Bill...

What SHOULD happen (AKA without MSAS)...
Click the Application start icon, and:

3DNA_Desktop.exe
3dnasys.exe
multicap3dna.exe

- show up in Task Manager
- A blue icon appears ("always on top") in the bottom right of desktop
- Program loads, then starts

What DOES happen (with MSAS)...
Click the Application start icon, and:

3dnasys.exe

- starts, but the others don't (in Task Manager)
- Where the icon should be, it appears to have nothing (although if you
launch a maximized window, ex: iexplore, you can see a circle - like a hole
punched through the iexplore window, to the desktop)
- While hovering the mouse over the invisble icon, the hourglass is present
- Program just hangs at this point, no error, no shut down, no crash - just
stays like that. I have given it up to about 10 minutes or so for testing
purposes with no change in result.

-WW

P.S. My version of 3DNA IS registered [legally], so it is not because of any
handicap to the software, and I have tried it before and after the REG code
was entered...
