When I try to run a 3D screensaver my pc lows up to below snails pace and
eventually the screensaver runs in very very slow jerks. They run OK on the
same machine under Win98SE and so I am sure that it is not my graphics card
that is causing the problem.

The non-3d ones run fine.

Any ideas, Daz

It could very well be your video card and it drivers. The way the card
worked under win98 may not be the way it works on xp. If its old(a few years
or more), then it may not have drivers for xp. Check with the cards
manufacturer and try to update the video card drivers and see if that helps.

You need a faster CPU and updated graphics card that
supports 3D fast. More RAM is probably needed too.

Purplehaz & Jim,
Thanks for your comments. I think that the graphics adapter that is the
problem. I have a 1.8GHz cpu and 256MB of RAM and so I am sure that I am OK
in that department.

I will now go and look for updated drivers.

Thanks again, Daz

It is possible that the 3D scr file is corrupt or just
poorly written.
You also might have some issues with background programs
starting when the scr runs.

Although 256mb is ok, it isn't great. IMHO, in a machine over 1.5 mhz, I
wouldn't have less than 512mb. No need to limit that fast computer with a
ram bottleneck. Just my personal opinon I really have no data to back it up.
But hopefully drivers will fix you up.
